Family Day 2009
27 - 28 June 2009
2008 saw the first Houses of the Oireachtas Family Day, it triggered an overwhelming response from the public. An additional day was added to satisfy some of this demand and the weekend itself proved that the appetite for direct access to our parliament was the main attraction. Over 8000 people experienced rare access to both chambers in Leinster as part of the Family Day Tour. Picnics and entertainment throughout the grounds of Leinster House ensured that the whole family had a great day.
This year the theme will be the 90th Anniversary of Dáil Éireann, with the Gaiety School of Acting recreating some of the most powerful Dáil debates through the Family Day. The ’90 Years of Dáil Éireann’ exhibition will be back in Leinster House and a whole host of family entertainers will complete what we hope will be an even bigger success this year.
Please note that this is an alcohol-free event and there will be no parking in Leinster House on the day!
