The
Houses of the Oireachtas will once again take part in ‘Open House
Dublin’. Leinster House was originally designed by Richard Castle for James
Fitzgerald, 20th Earl of Kildare and Duke of Leinster. The house was purchased
by the Dublin Society (now RDS) in 1815 and became a centre for cultural
development. The third Dáil met there in September 1922 and since then it has
been the seat of the Oireachtas, the Parliament of Ireland.
